Floor and Tile Problem Solving ~ Stone
Sealer Removal

FLOOR
AND TILE PROBLEM SOLVING:
This
is a picture of an automobile dealership floor in Amherst, NY with
porous, porcelain tiles. We were called to remove six-month-old
grout haze, oil and dirt. The grout haze acted as a sponge and absorbed
the contaminants to turn a light gray floor black. We cleaned the
tile and grout with our specially mixed chemicals and customized
floor machine. We thoroughly sealed the floor with a penetrating,
solvent based, neutral floor sealer to help prevent future stains
and ease daily maintenance. |

STONE
SEALER REMOVAL:
This is a Vermont Slate floor in Lockport, NY that was covered by
an unknown varnish placed on the stone that was at least 20 years
old. The bright pieces represent a test area of the stone floor that
we did to identify the right cleaning product. The owners were amazed
at the brilliant colors of the Vermont Slate floor that were hiding
underneath the layers of yellowed varnish. |

| The
above are before and after pictures of the varnish removal from the
Vermont Slate floor. We followed with thorough cleaning with a solvent-based
penetrating stone sealer. |
|
| We
were originally called to strip this limestone floor in Buffalo, NY
of improperly applied sealant that left the floor with dull and shiny
spots. The floor was very blah and had little color. We stripped the
floor of its original sealant and applied a polymer-based, enriching
floor sealant. The sealer brought out the deep, earth brown of the
limestone that was buried beneath the original neutral gray. |
